Flying Blue Program

france KLM and Air France have a flyer program called Flying Blue. In 2005, June, the two companies combined their Frequence plus and Flying Dutchman programs into the Flying Blue service. This happened after the companies were merged. This is a loyalty scheme introduced by the companies for their clients. The members of this program can earn and then spend their flight points on services offered by both companies. Plus, the clients can also spend their points on companies like SkyTeam and other travel and transportation services. The ones that are in the program get Award Miles or Level Miles.

The Award and Level Miles

The Flying Blue program has 4 membership levels: Basic level – Ivory, SkyTeam Elite – Silver, Elite Plus – Gold and SkyTeam Elite plus – Platinum. The points can also be gained by using any SkyTeam flight or flights of Kenya Airlines. Each mile you travel with the companies are worth 1 level mile plus 1 award mile. You get that if you fly min 500 miles on domestic flights and 750 on international routes. The international flights that are at the economy fare (class L) can only give you 25% of the mileage credit.

Also, the passengers in First and Business class get extra points. Plus, one can earn extra award miles if they are using certain car rental companies, hotels, credit cards and so on. The Blue American Express Gold Card can bring you points in France, but if you have a bank account in France.

A person can use the Award Miles to fly for free or get gifts. But, in order to retain your award miles you need to be a frequent flyer ant that means you have to pay a full ticket every 2 months. If you do not do that, the balance will expire.

Elite Benefits

Every level that is beyond Ivory has more advantages: extra baggage, priority boarding and more.
